UAB Aurika was established in 1991 in Kaunas, Lithuania and commenced business with only three employees trading a variety of consumer goods including kitchenware and food products.  Today it is one of the leading converters of labels & flexible packaging materials in the Baltic States with more than 300 employees.  It has over 5000 customers in Lithuania as well as in many countries in Europe, exporting more than 50% of its production.

Its remarkable success has been driven by the vision and determination of its Managing Director, Arunas Akstinas to become one of Lithuania’s strongest companies serving blue chip multi-nationals like Coca-Cola, Carlsberg and Kraft Lietuva.

With more recent and substantial expansion of its flexible materials business, Aurika needed a high performance and reliable solution for its slitting & rewinding operations and decided to invest in a 1650mm wide Titan SR9-DT Dual Turret slitter rewinder which was commissioned in December 2014.

“We were particularly impressed with the high productivity that the Titan SR9-DT could deliver for our expanding business in flexible packaging materials,” explained Mr. Arunas Abramavicius, Deputy Managing Director of Aurika.  “The minimum machine downtime between reel sets fits our business model perfectly well and the quality of the rewind reels is excellent.  It has already made an impact on our demanding production schedules,” he confirmed.

Innovative engineering design and the various automation features of the Titan SR9 Series not only means lower operator intervention and quicker set-up procedures but also reduction of costly waste materials and power consumption, delivering outstanding gains in productivity and sustainability.

The Linear Tracking Slitter (LTS) section ensures the shortest and a constant web length between the knives and the rewind shafts for improved web control giving the highest possible side wall quality of rewind reels and also reducing the possibility of waste material.  The SR9 Series is also available in a 2250mm machine width and has a maximum running speed of 1,000 m/min.

UAB Aurika first moved in to the packaging sector with the commercial import of labelling equipment from Poland and Korea in 1994 and the company produced and exported its first slit reels of labels in 1997.  By 2000, Aurika had won an award for its self-adhesive label printing and made an important investment with the acquisition of its first full colour printing press the following year.

The company achieved ISO:9001 Quality Management Certification and commenced production of printed aluminium foil lids for food products in 2003.  The success of the company earned several business awards and it moved to new, larger premises in 2005 where an 8 colour printing press was installed the following year.

In 2008 Aurika acquired the company UAB Vilrikė and so established a production facility in the capital Vilnius, with a range of new label products and in 2010 was voted the most innovative company by Lithuania’s printing industry for its VMI ‘smart store’ service (stock control system based on Dynamic Buffer Management).  This monitors supplied products and brings additional benefits to customers’ procurement teams.

In 2012, Aurika embarked on a major expansion of business with the opening of a second 6,000 sq. m. production facility in Kaunas and production of a wide range of flexible packaging materials mainly supplied for the food industry. Today, the company has 14 printing presses and processes over 4,000 orders per month, converting more than 15 million metres of materials per month in to labels & packaging.
