TB-3.06T2p Automatic Slitter Rewinder

TB-3.06T2p is the name of the newly developed automatic Slitter Rewinder produced by Euromac, the Italian leading supplier of slitting and rewinding equipment.

Based on the very successful TB-3 series with hundreds units sold worldwide, this machine is a perfect combination of technological solutions, mechanic engineering and ergonomic design, ideally suitable for flexible packaging converters.

The main feature of the TB-3.06T2p as the name suggest, is the dual Turret rewind system with automatic changeover at every cycle, which allows very short downtimes of almost 30 seconds.

This automatic sequence which includes also transversal splicing and, optionally roll taping, is eventually completed with a sequencial roll pusher that allows roll offloading to twin bar offloaders, the Euromac patented Totem offloader, or a robotic solution offered as a customised project.

The peculiarity of this Euromac slitter is however the very small footprint. The semi-integrated unwinder allows a mother roll diameter up to 1.000 mm is integrated in the overhead bridge which is directly connected to the machine for short web paths and easy accessibility to knife section. This means that the operator may adjust the knives, in a fast and easy way, while inspecting the web from under the bridge section, though maintaining a very compact size compared to the original version which is actually foreseen with a separate unwinder for bigger rolls.

TB-3.06T2p Dual Turret slitter rewinder is modular. This means the many of its components can be customised as for what concerns slitting section, rewind tension, handling devices.

Slitting Section

The slitting section is foreseen with various solutions, such as Razorblade, Shear-cut on drive shaft, Single knives, Tangential or Wrap-cut systems. For most applications however, Euromac advises its own patented system which consist in individual knifeholders mounted on linear guides, combined with own patented Rangefinder for semi-automatic knife setting assistance with a very high precision.

The Euromac Rangefinder is an instrument with two setting rods and digital display moving on linear guides. The two rods are used for aligning top knife and bottom knife, the digital display shows the nominal slitting width with a precision to 0.1 mm.

Alternatively the machine may mount the Euromac automatic positioning system type TA for both slitting blades, by PC control and double positioner.

Also, for the slitting section an important feature can be implemented, which allows to slit both wrap-cut as Tangent-cut by modifying the webpath in real time without having to remove the web. This feature is specifically interesting when slitting thin aluminium foil but also heavy gauge PVC.

Web Tension

The web path on this machine is very well suitable for a various range of flexible substrates, and can be modified and upgraded according to the customer’s wish. As a direct consequence to the web path, the TB-3.06T2p allows very precise tension controls for a wide range of applications.

As an example the machine can be delivered with a double pull roll for “S” wrap with own nip roller as well as single pull roll depending on the utilised materials.

The machine can typically be configured with two idler rolls carrying a load-cell combination which allows a Closed-Loop tension control for both independent rewind shafts. The rewind shafts may be Air expanding for block rewind system with  Torque control of the Ac drives, ideal for Paper or Foil applications, or Differential Friction shafts with Speed control of the Ac drives, which is mandatory for plastic films and materials with uneven thicknesses.
