Model installs Flexo Wash’s 200th Anilox Roll Cleaner

The Model Group is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of solid and corrugated board packaging. Renowned for developing intelligent and innovative products from simple transport packaging to deluxe boxes for the confectionary and perfume industries, the Model Group is made up of ten subsidiaries in nine countries, and employs over 4200 staff

To maintain the high performance of its flexo technology, Model recently installed a Flexo Wash Anilox Roll Cleaner at its plant in Berka/Werra, Germany, which employs 500 people. The Anilox Cleaner was the 200th to be sold by the Danish manufacturer, with the aid of its sales and service partner in Germany, Dortschy, and was chosen by Model for its ability to keep aniloxes in top condition.

Speaking for Model, operations manager at the Berka plant, Joachim Schmidt commented: “Clean anilox rolls are very important to us. Without them, we cannot deliver the high print quality that our customers expect from us. The new Flexo Wash Anilox cleaning system ensures our rollers have a consistent transfer volume, so that we do not have to adjust the ink recipes. With clean cells, we know exactly how to make up our ink recipes and reach the desired result faster. This makes the colour recipe cheaper, and we have less machine downtime caused by the need to colour correct.”

The corrugated board that Model delivers is as light as it is robust, thanks to its wave shape. It is also easily recyclable, and consists mainly of waste paper. With its high load capacity, it is in great demand for all types of packaging, folding boxes, and displays. The corrugated board products are available in all sizes, grades and compositions – from single to double or triple wall, coloured, dyed, 8-colour or custom-coated, as desired.

Referring to his company’s most recent purchase, Model’s Deputy Process Manager of Pre-Print, Christian Gross added: “We tested several different cleaning systems and ultimately selected the FW 3000 Anilox Roll cleaning system from Flexo Wash. The system is very easy to use and achieves an excellent cleaning result. Since we print both short and long runs, a variety of aniloxes needs to be cleaned. With the FW 3000, we can deep-clean the anilox rolls and anilox sleeves from our two Bobst presses in only 20-45 minutes, depending on the degree of soiling.”
