Matthews the Printers pledges to build a well in East Africa
London-based family run business, Matthews the Printers, is delighted to announce its partnership with charity, Fields of Life. The partnership involves Matthews donating £4,000 to sponsor the construction of a well in Uganda, East Africa.
Fields of Life aims to change lives and build hope across Africa. The charity’s goal is to bring safe drinking water to over one million people by 2020 and Matthews will now play a role in this. The funds donated by Matthews will be allocated towards the drilling of a borehole well in Uganda and will change the lives of those living in the vulnerable community.
Matthews is also encouraging other businesses to support the charity and donate to build more of these wells and provide clean water to thousands more.
Christopher Riddell, managing director at Matthews, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Fields of Life and to be able to change many lives in this way. We look forward to seeing the well completed and seeing the positive results that we have been part of.”
To date, Fields of Life has completed the construction of over 117 schools and over 580 wells in places such as Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.
Deborah Cameron, head of development and fundraising UK, Fields of Life, said: “It is truly wonderful to have the support of Matthews and we couldn’t be more thankful for the help they have given us to change lives. Our team are always excited about the possibilities that can be realised thanks to such generosity and most importantly, the many lives that will be positively affected.”
