To be held 19-20 May 2015 at the Best Western Cresta Court in ManchesterUK, these concurrent sessions bring two renowned experts to the UK converting community.

Tim Walker ConUKPresented by Tim Walker, the Principles of Web Handling two-day training course will give you the fundamentals and process know-how needed to handle any web handling issue. From exploring the theoretical to understanding practical applications, you will be able to diagnose and treat existing problems and also accurately identify the specifications needed for new webs. You will learn about the critical areas of tension control, web tracking, roller choices and their effects, machine alignment and web defects such as roping, telescoping, and staring. This seminar will address these topics on various levels, from providing basics and rules to remember to examining some of the intricate physics of their behavior. Though theory is included, emphasis is placed on practical problem solving techniques for the plant engineer.

Mr. Walker is an internationally recognized expert and consultant in web handling and winding processes and president of TJWalker and Associates, Inc. He specializes in design, development, and education for handling and winding web products, helping many clients in their development of thinner, wider, faster, more precise, or more integrated processing.

Darby ConUKLamination of Flexible Materials for Packaging is led by Dr. Duncan Darby, Associate Professor for the Packaging Science Department at ClemsonUniversity. This session provides an understanding of lamination processes and the properties of the resultant laminates utilized in flexible packaging. Monolayer flexible materials often fall short in delivering the needed properties. Lamination is an important technique utilized to combine materials to assure that the finished packaging materials demonstrate properties needed for packaged products. This two-day seminar covers various lamination technologies, process variables, testing procedures, upstream and downstream processes and troubleshooting techniques.

Dr. Darby is a recognized expert in the use and manufacture of flexible packaging. He has over 20 years of experience in the flexible packaging industry, developing and providing technical support for sealable packaging materials for dairy products, shelf-stable products, beverages, dry products, confectionery products and pharmaceutical products.
