East-Midlands-based cutting, creasing and folding company, FC Cartons, has been involved in a local TV showcase.

Managing director, David Woodyatt, spoke of how the spotlight was on them when they were filmed by Derby Business TV for a showcase that is set to air very soon:

“It was a bright sunny day when the cameras rolled at our Castle Donington facility. The film crew from Derby Business TV (DBTV) were here working with us on a project to showcase the various companies that had secured funding through Derby Enterprise Growth Fund’s Enterprise Expansion Scheme.

“We applied for the grant in 2013, in a bid to help us with our growth and development. This included expanding our manufacturing facility by taking on a larger unit, whilst retaining our existing facility, as well as acquiring new specialist machinery. In addition to enabling us to double our capacity and improve our carton finishing service, the funding is set to help us create 12 new jobs.

“As the crew made their rounds on the premises, they filmed our extended production facilities with the new Iberica die-cutter press and the Videojet 1520 Continuous Ink Jet printer.”

Neale Lewis, who runs DBTV and who interviewed the team at the company, explained: “DBTV was set up to showcase the fantastic work that businesses in Derby are achieving and to bring together the local business community. FC Cartons exemplifies that successful business and today’s session is intended to share their good practice and business advice to help promote the city to inward investors.”

FC cartons, established in May 2003, is run by husband and wife team, David and Debra Woodyatt. The specialist gluing and folding company provides support to packaging, printing and carton companies throughout the UK.

The couple has seen steady and sustained growth since the business opened and it now employs 24 staff and is based in purpose-designed industrial premises.

Once completed, the 10-minute film will be featured on the FC Cartons website, along with YouTube and on the Derby Enterprise Growth Fund blog and website.
