Aluminium foil tray manufacturer, i2r Packaging Solutions, has announced that it has acquired its former South Korean distributor for an undisclosed sum.
Established in 2015 and based in Seoul, i2r Korea supplies a variety of packaging products for food manufacturers and retailers across the region. During the last two years the company has grown rapidly and has successfully established itself as a leading supplier of high-grade packaging products to a growing convenience food market.
Peter Reay, i2r’s CEO, said: “We believe this is a great opportunity to join forces with an entrepreneurial led Asian business and provides the Group with new exciting market opportunities, whilst further strengthening the vertical integration of its European parent. We look forward to further investing in this geographic region in the future and enhancing the Group’s operations.”
i2r recently unveiled the results of a brand makeover at Packaging Innovations at the NEC last week. The new look, including a new logo, website and associated collateral, is currently being rolled out.
“As a leader in our field, we felt that it was time to update our brand to reflect the company we have become,” added Reay. “The new website offers customers and visitors to the site an opportunity to view the company’s capabilities and product offerings on a deeper level.”
Operating as part of the Italian Laminazione Sottile Group – one of the leading global suppliers of aluminium products – i2r manufactures a comprehensive range of wrinkle wall and smooth wall semi-rigid aluminium foil containers used throughout the food industry. Last year i2r successfully launched a baking division, manufacturing a full range of tulip muffin wraps and greaseproof papers. In doing so, the company has become one of the only UK manufacturers to provide the baking industry with a single source for both aluminium foil containers and FSC accredited tulip paper products.
i2r Packaging Solutions will also be exhibiting at IFE on March 19-22, and at the Farm Shop & Deli Show on April 24-26.
