Host of cutting and finishing equipment on show at drupa
Friedheim International represents a number of companies in the UK & Ireland. It does not have its own stand at this year’s drupa exhibition, but many of its companies will be participating and will have finishing equipment and demonstrations on their stands.
Baumann-Wohlenberg – Hall 14 Stand A32
Baumann-Wohlenberg is using drupa to launch its new concept – ‘Cutting 4.0’ – which focuses on a state-of-the-art cutting system capable of eliminating bottlenecks and increasing productivity in the finishing process.
The basic idea is simple: one jogging system supplies pre-jogged reams for two or more cutting systems. The idea is that the automatic jogging system BASA is connected directly with the high-speed cutter through a logistics system and a multi-ream rack BMR. Equipped with 20 ‘storage spaces’ the BMR is responsible for the job management. As a result, transportation and storing of pre-jogged reams within the company can thus be avoided.
In practice, the operators of the high-speed cutters request the respective job; at the same time they can already pre-select the subsequent job. Thanks to the pre-selection, this means that the first ream of the subsequent job will be read to cut as soon as the operator has finished cutting the last ream of the current job.
Bograma – Hall 6 Stand B38
As one of the market leaders in the niche area of die-cutting machine engineering, Bograma will be presenting new customer-oriented total solutions that meet the high quality and economic performance requirements in label and packaging printing, job printing and digital printing.
‘RoboStack’ – this is an in-line solution for rotary die-cutting different labels in multiple-up production, including automatic gripping and subsequent banderoling. The production set-up incorporates a Bograma BSR 550 Servo rotary die-cutter and the RoboStack robotic solution for gripping, de-stacking and packing small format products, along with the US-2000 IBL-SM-E in-line banding system from ATS-Tanner.
The compact BSR 550 basic is designed for users who want to produce short and medium print runs economically and efficiently. The off-line system is suitable for die-cutting, kiss-cutting, creasing, perforating and embossing a wide range of products such as packaging materials, labels, mailings, presentation folders, etc, from both offset and digital printing. To exchange the flexible dies the entire unit is disconnected from the die-cutting area. At drupa Bograma will demonstrate how various jobs can be die-cut with a simple change of tool.
Mondi Hall 4 Stand C21
In-line production from the roll to stack: For loose-leaf production for POD, Transactional and Transpromo applications, this in-line system features an Océ Colorstream and pre- and post-finishing by Hunkeler.
Screen – Hall 8a Stand C11
Combi-line for roll-to-roll and booklet production: The Screen Truepress Jet520 HD will inkjet print in full colour. The Hunkeler Combi-line will support roll-to-roll production from the UW6 unwinder to the RW6 re-winder, for in-line production of variable sheet count booklets.
Xerox – Hall 8b Stand A62
Combi-line for various book block and POD applications: The Impika eVolution will print a variety of book block and POD applications in full colour. The Hunkeler Combi-line will support high speed roll-to-roll production (250m/min), or roll-to-stack production. The DP8 module will perform dynamic form/hole punching and vertical/cross-perforating. Book blocks will be produced two-up with full-bleed trim.
Brochure production with variable formats and numbers of pages: Brochures will be produced on a Presto II Digital saddle-stitcher from Müller Martini. Printed paper web will be fed by a UW6 unwind module and cross-cut in a high-performance CS6-HS module. Variable format end products are possible thanks to the ‘DynaCut’ function.
HP Hall 17 Stand A01
Roll-to-roll production: An efficient roll-to-roll configuration in-line with the HP T-200 Series press will feature near-line finishing on the Hunkeler roll-to-cut/stack line for highly flexible output production.
Roll-to-cut/stack finishing: This production line for mailings and POD applications from the roll to stacked output offers a choice of one-up, two-up or three-up full bleed production.
WI6 ensures quality with 42-inch wide web width: The WI6 Web Inspection system ensures error-free print quality on the HP PageWide Web Press T-400 Series. Data integrity and the printed image are continuously monitored on a 42-inch wide web at a speed of up to 240m/min.
Kohmann – Hall 10 Stand A38
Kohmann will be presenting the following machines/innovations at drupa 2016: The F-1100 – window patching machine for cardboard packaging; the ‘BrailleStar’ – the new folder-gluer with a Braille unit for the efficient converting of pharmaceutical cartons; and the ‘Print Checker’ print inspection system for total quality control of folding cartons and other print media.
Komfi – Hall 6 Stand E03
From its extensive range of thermal laminating, spot UV coating and UV varnishing machines, Komfi will be demonstrating a range of machinery solutions, including the Amiga 36, Amiga 76 + built-in toner foiling module and stand-alone flying knife module for PSA film processing and label market, Sirius 107 + new linear hot knife and modification for corrugated stock lamination, Sagitta 52 and/or 76 + options (window patching), Fullmatic 52, Spotmatic 54, and Amiga 52 (embossing).
