HERMA 400 Label applicator makes gains with North American OEMs

Sales in excess of 4,000 HERMA 400 machines expected in 2018; Approximately half slated for original equipment manufacturers

HERMA US Inc., the subsidiary of HERMA – a Germany-based provider of labelling machinery and self-adhesive labels and materials to the global packaging marketplace – anticipates record sales of the company’s flagship HERMA 400 Label Applicator in 2018, with sales expected to exceed 4,000 units. Sales for the high-precision labeller are divided roughly evenly between OEMs and end users incorporating the unit into existing machines and lines.

The HERMA 400 Label Applicator is HERMA’s signature machine, around which all of the company’s labelling solutions are based. The compact module features a 400-watt servo drive capable of achieving speeds in excess of 4,000 inches/minute, or up to 1,000 products per minute, with label registration accuracy of 0.008 inches.

A major advantage to the HERMA 400 is that, whatever the configuration, the basic servo drive unit module remains the same — one unit, one development, one spare part. Thanks to the wide range of ancillary modules available, the HERMA 400 can be integrated into any production line, or be built into a labelling machine specifically developed to suit individual requirements.

The versatile HERMA 400 can apply any type of adhesive label to virtually any type of product or package and is used across a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, logistics, food and beverages, and the automotive and chemical sectors. Depending on the machine type, the applicator can be installed in a horizontal, upright or suspended position.

“We’re encouraged that our signature HERMA 400 label applicator is selling equally strongly both with OEMS and as retrofits and upgrades to existing lines,” said Peter Goff, CEO of HERMA US Inc. “We believe this stellar growth reflects both the reliability and versatility of our market-leading machine, and the dedicated outreach efforts throughout North America by our new U.S.-headquartered sales and service staff.”
