Americk Packaging has been announced as one of the leading companies competing for the prestigious International Print & Innovations Awards 2016. The specialist wide web Flexo HD plant located in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, is in with a chance of picking up the coveted ‘Flexo job previously printed by another process Award’ after entering for the first time.
Operating from six sites across the UK and Ireland, Americk Packaging boasts expertise in cartons, produce packaging, flexibles, reel-fed labels and self-adhesive label manufacturing.
Sales director for the Flexibles Division, Michael Harkness, commented: “Our dedicated technical and production teams work in a collaborative culture which ensures we deliver products of this quality day in, day out.”
The three-man team directly responsible for this entry pooled over 40 years’ experience across several disciplines to achieve the results the customer was seeking for this job.
The entry for ‘Rundum Stiftsquelle Mineral Water Medium 1 Litre’ was printed in 10 colours on a thin gauge Jindal LL410 29mic on a Windmöller & Hölscher Miraflex AM Press. A challenging design originated for gravure had to be developed to transfer to the Flexo HD process, literally rebuilding the artwork layers and working on the colour values in order to achieve the desired match.
Harkness added: “This transition is typical as we are constantly managing the switch from Gravure to Flexo as our customer base have identified the cost benefits and closing of the quality gap between the two processes. Indeed, it was our customer’s feedback that inspired the team to enter the awards.”
Americk Packaging is continually releasing new products and innovations to a variety of sectors. Key customers operate in the beverage, food, dairy, household, healthcare, pet care and horticulture markets. The company’s website has already undergone a design review as part of the move to a single brand identity.
Organised by Flexotech Magazine the awards ceremony takes place on October 13 at The Hilton in London.
