Americk Packaging strengthens the boardroom with appointment of former Benson Group CEO

Americk Packaging has announced the appointment of Mark Kerridge as a non-executive director.

During his tenure at The Benson Group Kerridge lead the business from a £10m turnover to the eventual sale to Graphic Packaging International with a £120m sales revenue in 2014.

Commenting on his appointment, he described his interest in Americk Packaging as “a fast paced owner managed business with an impressive portfolio”. He could draw parallels with the Benson Group’s development and continued: “Patrick Doran’s enthusiasm for the business is clear and I am looking forward to supporting the management team in realising the potential for Americk Packaging.”

Mark Kerridge has accrued over 30 years’ experience in senior positions including Bensons and time at the CPC Group, Alusuisse Lonza Group and Laura Ashley. His appointment comes hot on the heels of the recruitment of Josephine Morgan as the group retail director and the recent expansion of the Flexibles Division. The dedicated fresh produce packaging site in Haydock has moved to an 80,000sq ft facility in Wigan only last week. Over three times the size of the existing location it is an indication of the intent of one of the fastest growing packaging companies in Europe.

CEO Patrick Doran commented: “This announcement comes at an exciting time for Americk Packaging. Our business operates from six sites all contributing specialist expertise in cartons, produce packaging, flexibles, reel-fed labels and self-adhesive label manufacturing. Our focus is now to bring all our operations under a single brand identity in order to capitalise on our strengths and collective expertise. Ultimately adding value to our growing customer base throughout Europe.

“I am extremely pleased Mark is joining Americk Packaging as his knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we continue on our path to growth.”

The company expects to hit €140m in sales revenue this year and is continually releasing new products and innovations to a variety of sectors. Key customers operate in the beverage, food, dairy, household, healthcare, pet care and horticulture markets. Its website has already undergone a design review as part of the move to a single identity.
